Every document belongs to a technical committee of seven to twelve working practitioners, chaired by someone who currently runs an operation. Drafts go through a 90-day public comment window, and every comment received is published with its disposition alongside the final text.
A standard is reviewed on a three-year cycle or sooner if the committee sees cause. Anyone may propose a new work item; you do not need to be a member to comment, and you do not need to be a member to be on a committee if you bring relevant operating experience.
